Over the last ten years, virtual assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri have become mainstream; hundreds of millions of users are setting their timers, controlling music, checking the weather, etc., on a daily basis. In this talk, we will provide a high-level overview of speech recognition technology (cloud-based vs. on-device, far-field, dictation vs. domain-specific, always-on listening, etc.) and then focus on on-device voice recognition approaches, with some code examples, as well as various tips on tuning the performance.

Ognjen Todic is the CEO of Keen Research, a technology company focused on providing on-device speech recognition solutions for mobile devices (iOS, Android) and custom hardware devices (Android, Linux).

KeenASR SDK powers a number of iOS and Android apps and products with millions of users across many different verticals. Prior to Keen Research, Mr. Todic worked at Entropic Research Lab, Ordinate Corporation (acquired by Pearson), and OnStar Advanced Technology Group; he also founded Tunezee, a music search company that was acquired by Shazam.
